For the second year in a row, one of our graduate students (alumnus, in this case), now teaching at MSU, has received recognition from the SCMS Awards committees.
Jason Sperb published an article in Cinema Journal, the Society for Cinema and Media Studies' national publication, that won Honorable Mention in the Katherine Singer Kovacs outstanding essay in the field competition. The name of the essay is: "Reassuring Convergence: Online Fandom, Race, and Disney's Notorious Song of the South."
