While there are many film festivals that showcase short films, the opportunities to secure financing to physically produce a short are extremely limited. In keeping with its mission, the goal of CAPE is to provide these much-needed funds and the guidance to produce a high quality short film which will generate attention for the filmmaker. The winning filmmaker will be awarded (i) $5000 to be used for the purpose of producing a short film, and (ii) the assignment of a CAPE Mentor who will provide advice, support, and oversight throughout the production process. The completed film will be announced and showcased at a future CAPE event as well as on the CAPE website.

Applicants must have full ownership over their work. Film students may apply as long as they control the copyright of their own work. Submission for the CAPE Digital Shorts Program begins May 1, 2009. Deadline for entries must be postmarked by Friday, July 31, 2009. Winners will be announced in October.
