Statements of Teaching Philosphy for Job Seekers

Friday, September 12, 2008
1:30-3:00pm
Ballantine Hall 304

In the current academic job market, new PhDs must demonstrate their teaching credentials to be considered for many positions. But showing search committees what kind of teacher you are takes thoughtful preparation. Graduate students at early stages in their programs are highly encouraged to attend the workshop as it is never too early to start collecting the documentation of your teaching that is needed to support your academic applications.

Katie Kearns and Sarah Marion will share information about the qualities of effective statements of teaching philosophy. During the workshop, participants will read and analyze several statements and will receive writing guides for getting started.

If you have a disability or need assistance, arrangements can be made to accommodate most needs.
